Biography
Business Experience:
CEO of York Region Conveyancing, a successful title searching company. Kim's
business expertise, particularly in time management and financial planning, has
resulted in a thriving company in a competitive market. She will use those
skills at the CKC board table.
Dog Breeding Background:
Kim and her mother Beryl Ramey established Snowmist Kennels (Siberian
Huskies) in 1973. She has bred/owned the top conformation Sibe in 1986,
1987, 1994, and 2001. She and her husband Tom, (a Forest Fire Suppression
Officer) also competed in sled dog races. In 1993 and 1994 the Siberian
Husky Club of Canada awarded her lead dog, (Northstar’s Snowmist Birch
C.D., S.D.U.) the Ward Young Trophy for successfully competing in sled dog racing,
showing and obedience within one club year. This was the first time any dog had
won this award in back to back years. Kim continues to breed and show on
a small scale. She began judging in Canada in 1994 and has also judged
in Belgium, France, Finland, Australia, Ireland and the USA.

IF ELECTED I WILL SEEK TO
ROLL BACK REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fees are too high, the members have seen spiraling increases
in all fees. The CKC keeps looking for new sources of revenue, rather than
attempting to cut costs. I will support the reduction of all service fees.
IF ELECTED, I WILL, ON YOUR BEHALF,
DEMAND A MORE EFFICIENT CKC
There is one CKC manager for every six employees. This is business
suicide. No properly run business can survive with such costly, top heavy
management.
Why did we change from a fee for service business to a costly invoicing business? Why
is the reserve fund being used to balance the books? At this rate, in four
years, the CKC will be bankrupt. A more efficient business model is essential.
IF ELECTED, I WILL, ON YOUR BEHALF,
SEEK TO RE-INSTATE THE MONTHLY OFFICIAL SHOW RESULTS
According to the By-Laws, Dogs in Canada and the Official Pages (which
published the show results) are distributed as part of our membership fees. Why
should we pay $47 for something we have already paid for via our membership fees? Many
members in Northern Ontario cannot download the on-line results.
The CKC should give the same benefits to all members whether or not they have
computers or high-speed internet.
IF ELECTED, I PROMISE TO
GIVE THE CKC BACK TO THE MEMBERS
I wish to see the various committees more membership based with less
control by the board and greater involvement by the general membership. Let the
members establish what needs to be done and bring it to the board for approval. Directors
should be the voice of the members - available, positive, and co-operative.
